The Ricmond Virgina Martial Art Suenaka-ha Aikido is a synthesis of Founder Morihei Ueshiba O'Sensei's Aikido and that of Shin-Shin Toitsu Aikido founder Koichi Tohei Sensei. It is a system of self-defense designed to be street- effective, while paying equal attention to spiritual, mental and moral/ethical development.

How to Join?

The very best way to get an up-close and personal experience is to stop by and observe one of our group classes, meet our Kōji dojo Student and our instructors. Feel free to engage anyone in the dojo from the most junior, to the most senior to get a feel for the environment. Only by experiencing Suenaka Aikido first-hand are you able to make an informed decision to pursue your study. After-all, you need to make sure the environment, the personalities of the instructors, their interaction with you, as well as our students fit your personality and it feels comfortable.

Choosing the right martial arts system is an important personal decision in order for you to achieve your goals. The school and its instructors must be compatible with your personality, while providing an environment that allows its students the room to achieve their own personal growth and individual development. It is not so much the style of a martial arts system that one chooses, it's the instructor, the training environment, the attitude and discipline of the students, and the overall sense of being part of the family, where you are valued as a person and not just another contract.

We offer two free introductory classes without obligation. We have no contracts.

You can contact us at info@aikidorichmond.com and let us know your coming or let us answer any questions you may have.
